FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (May 27, 2008)
Go Bowling to Save Rhinos on June 7, 2008

Bowling for Rhinos

Help save rhinos and their natural habitats by sponsoring Dallas zookeepers or by joining in the fun and signing up to be a bowler, too. The evening will be filled with activities for children. Grown ups can bid on silent auction items, including behind-the-scenes tours, animal paintings, photos, and more.

Ways to help make a difference include: raising or donating money (the more you raise, the more prizes you can win); sponsoring a bowling lane; contributing raffle or door prizes; or donating silent auction items. 100 percent of the proceeds go directly to rhino conservation and all gifts are tax deductible.

The Dallas Zoo chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK). The Dallas AAZK chapter is one of the most successful chapters in the Bowling for Rhinos network.

In addition, funds to protect rhino habitats also help elephants, cheetahs, Grevy’s zebras, Malayan tigers, Malayan sun bears and tapirs, Javan gibbons, and coral reefs too.

Since 1990, the national chapter of AAZK has raised more than $3 million through the Bowling for Rhinos fundraiser. Of the 100 organizations that raise money for this event, the Dallas Zoo chapter of AAZK ranks 5th in total money raised. Blue Rhino is the national sponsor of the event.

The American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) volunteer organization made up of professional zoo keepers and other interested persons dedicated to professional animal care and conservation. Each year, local chapters host Bowling for Rhinos, Sailing for Rhinos, and other fundraising events.
